This Giving Tuesday, as we come together in support of communities and nonprofits around the world, we invite you to consider making a gift to the Historical Society of Moorestown. Your gift helps us preserve Moorestown’s rich history and ensure that future generations can experience the stories that have shaped our town.
Why Your Gift Matters: For 56 years, the Historical Society has worked to identify, collect, preserve, and share materials that document our town’s history. Our largest and most treasured collection item is the Smith-Cadbury Mansion, and we’re proud to offer public access to our archives, exhibits, and educational programs. We also advocate for the preservation of Moorestown’s most significant historic structures.
As a nonprofit run entirely by volunteers, we rely on donations to maintain our historic collections and continue our work. Your tax-deductible contribution (of any size!), helps make possible the exciting programs we have for you in the next year, such as:
The British Are Coming! a Beatles tribute band performance at Moorestown High School theater
Colonial Taverns and the Drinks They Served with Master Brewer Rich Wagner
A talk by Dr. Camilla Townsend of Rutgers University on her book On the Turtle’s Back: Stories the Lenape Told Their Grandchildren
A historical debate on colonial independence at the Moorestown Friends Meeting House, featuring teams from Moorestown High School and Moorestown Friends School
A partnership with the Museum of the American Revolution to bring a replica of George Washington’s tent to Locust Street Park, complete with reenactors, demonstrations, music, games, and more
A public reading of the Declaration of Independence in July, where residents can read sections of the document and sign their names as part of the tradition
