The Historical Society of Moorestown and Saving Historic Moorestown are partnering to present a Revolutionary Era Historic House Tour. By highlighting these architectural treasures in town, the tour will serve to further our shared missions to promote history and preserve landmarks. The tour will be a once in a generation opportunity to see houses that were standing during The Revolutionary War and thus are called Witness Houses. There are 12 houses 8 of which can be toured inside. There are less than 20 pre-revolutionary structures remaining!

Thomas Cowperthwaite House

Tickets are $25 each, purchased through Eventbrite. Children 12 and under are free. This event will be held rain or shine and all ticket sales are considered a donation and no refunds will be issued.

Visitors should wear walking shoes and have fully charged phones in order to access the full interactive experience.
Visitors will present their Eventbrite confirmation at the recreated Moore’s Tavern at its original location now Princeton Bank, Main and Union Streets. Everyone will report here to receive a map/guide of the designated tour sites. This will be a home base where phones can be charged and refreshments will be available for a small donation.
Thomas Moore built his tavern in 1734. He also owned 33 acres that he subdivided and sold off to create our town.

Exact locations of the houses will be made available the night before the tour.
The sites are located on Main Street (originally King’s Highway ) laid out in the 1680’s, from Lenola Rd. to the beginning of The Marne Hwy, with the addition of Smith-Cadbury Mansion on High Street. Smith-Cadbury Mansion will have cases of Revolutionary artifacts discovered by local detectorist Kevin Kramarski (kramarski.kevin@yahoo.com) including coins, buttons and buckles on display.
Upon arriving at each site a visitor will scan a unique QR code that will bring up the story, photos and history of that house.

First entry will be at 10 am and last at 6:45 pm.

Main Street restaurants will be participating with lunch specials. The Friends Meeting House will be open from 5-7pm only and will provide desserts crafted from authentic colonial recipes and colonial music.

The oldest known home, The French-Hollinshead House, dates to 1695 and is included!
